LIFE CROLIS project presented at LIFE INFO Day

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, as the National Contact Point for the EU LIFE Program in cooperation with the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment (CINEA) organized the LIFE Info Day on May 25, 2022.

The reason for the organization of the LIFE Info Day is the announcement of the LIFE competition for 2022, and during the hybrid meeting, participants were presented with funding opportunities from the LIFE Program and the novelties of this year’s LIFE competition, which was announced on May 17. Potential applicants could get information about the possibilities of national co-financing, and representatives of several domestic LIFE projects gave presentations about their project experiences. Among them was Mr. Domagoj Stjepan Krnjak, leader of the LIFE CROLIS project, who in his lecture referred to the biggest challenges during the implementation of the project so far: “The public procurement procedure proved to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, challenge so far. I believe that many others have the same or similar experiences, so I would definitely advise potential applicants to keep in mind when preparing a project proposal that this is a procedure, especially if it involves large estimated procurement values, which takes time. In addition to that, I would mention another real risk, which is the insufficient speed of the state administration, so all of this should be taken into account when preparing the project”.

In addition to LIFE CROLIS, the projects LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus – Establishing the control of the invasive foreign species Ailanthus altissima (pajasen) in Croatia and LIFE4Greenbroadband – Free cooling system and solar panels to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions in the electronic communication network were also presented.
