6th Meeting of the project’s Advisory Board

On December 9 and 10, 2025, the 6th meeting of the LIFE CROLIS project Advisory Board was held, together with another meeting and workshop involving additional EU experts, aimed at fine-tuning the concept and data model of CROLIS from project activity C1. The meeting concluded on December 10 with presentations of results at the Second LIFE CROLIS Visibility evnet at the National and University Library in Zagreb.

At the beginning of the 6th Advisory Board meeting, Domagoj Krnjak introduced the guests and welcomed the representatives of the project partner institutions. He provided an overview of achievements over the past year, such as the adoption of the new Climate Change and Ozone Layer Protection Act, which strengthened CROLIS’s position within the national LULUCF reporting system. He highlighted key events, including the meeting between the Minister of Environmental Protection and the Minister of Agriculture, where the framework for continued project implementation was agreed upon following the European Commission’s acceptance of the Mid-term Report, work on legislation to regulate CROLIS operations, and updates to documentation for major procurements under the LIFE CROLIS project.

The main part of the meeting was dedicated to presenting work on historical land cover changes, carried out by colleagues from EKONERG in collaboration with Dr. Vanja Wagner from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb and a member of the Croatian Association for Applied and Industrial Mathematics CRO-MATH-IN. The presented results sparked an extensive technical discussion that lasted almost until the end of the meeting.

In addition to this topic, Dr. Boštjan Mali from the Slovenian Forestry Institute gave a presentation on Slovenian experiences.

At the very end of the discussion, Mr. Krnjak, project manager, presented the legislative framework being developed by the Ministry, the procedure and steps in adopting a Croatian Government Regulation, as well as the financial requirements for maintaining the CROLIS system after its establishment and the conclusion of project funding.
