LIFE CROLIS project at LIFE Info on May 16 and 17, 2023

On 17th May 2023 the experiences of implementing the LIFE CROLIS project were presented as part of the LIFE Info days that took place on 16 and 17 May 2023 in Zagreb.

The LIFE program is the leading financial instrument of the European Union dedicated to environmental protection, nature conservation and climate action. In the period 2021 – 2027, the program co-finances activities through 4 subprograms, and at this year’s call for project proposals, EUR 611 million is available for the realization of green ideas.

LIFE (co)finances projects that develop and demonstrate innovative solutions for current environmental and climate challenges, as well as projects that will apply best practice methods in the field for a particular area of protection. The common denominator of all LIFE projects is that they serve the concrete implementation of EU legislation and policies in practice.

The two-day event, held in the Nikola Tesla Hall of the University of Algebra in Zagreb, was attended by potential applicants of various profiles, given the prominent fact that all legal entities registered in the EU (public bodies, private companies) can apply for co-financing of projects from the LIFE Program and non-profit organizations) and natural persons performing registered economic activity.

The first day of the event was dedicated to the LIFE competition for 2023 and general information regarding funding within the Program, and at the end of the program, the participants had the opportunity to hold a short consultation with the LIFE advisers of the National Contact Point (speed-meeting).

On the second day of the event, Višnja Grgasović, head of the Climate Policy Sector of the Ministry of Economy, presented the European climate policy and the existing legislative framework to those present. As part of her lecture, she presented the experiences of implementing the LIFE CROLIS project.

In the continuation of the event, the three subprograms of the LIFE Program were presented in more detail: Circular Economy and Quality of Life, Mitigation of Climate Change and Adaptation to These Changes, and Nature and Biodiversity.
